Dear Students,
For this post, you have to choose ONE of these  2 options:
I’m giving you examples of the 2 options just for you to see:

Post 1.
Write about a career-related website that you enjoy visiting. You should:

- provide a link
- describe the website (sections, features, etc)
- say how often you visit the site
- explain why you like the site.
>Add comments to at least 3 of your classmates’ blogs
>Word Count: 170

Americanrhetoric is a collection of different samples of famous speeches given in English, such as in politics, religious talks and in movies; and even a 100 top speeches rank can be found. This page tries to offer not only text, but also audio and video when possible.
Of course, as the name of the site indicates, the speeches stored there have special rhetorical resources that are interesting to analyze. A great example of this is the worldwide known Marthin Luther King’s “I have a dream” talk (http://americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm).
I visit the site as often as I can, and I use it for several things. Sometimes I use it to find examples for my students for them to practice, or to learn vocabulary and grammar. It also helps them to practice their listening comprehension, but you have to keep in mind that it is not only real English, but it may also be very metaphorical and/or sophisticated, so it’s actually good practice for me too. In addition, I also use the site to find samples of English phenomena that I was to do casual and personal linguistic research on.

Noam Chomsky
Chomsky is one of the greatest thinkers of the XX and XXI C. He was born in Philadelphia in 1928. His father introduced him to the study of language by teaching him Hebrew. He is a very prominent linguist, philosopher and politic activist.
He revolutionized linguistic science. In the middle of the XX C. most study of language was based on the notion that the only thing that was possible to investigate was what people actually produced, or what was observable; but Chomsky proposed a series of models that attempted to give account for what happens in the mind before we actually say something. He also claimed that that were some characteristics that were common to all human languages, such the existence of subject and verb, negative and interrogative, and many other things.
Chomsky referred only to the way words are arranged, or the structure of sentences, doing little analysis on the meaning of words and on pronunciation systems, so to speak. But he open up a whole new paradigm, changing even until today, the way languages are investigated, and it is precisely how he totally thought outside the box what fascinates me .
